Living on a tight rope

Living on a tight rope

NB: During the welcome to this episode of The Different Stories Podcast and during the conversation itself, you will hear it referred to as The Other Stories Podcast.

That was the original name of the podcast until we were requested to change it in November 2023, due to the presence of another podcast of the same name, of a completely different genre.

The podcast is now known as The Different Stories Podcast across all platforms.

At the age of 18 and poised ready to embark on an engineering apprenticeship, Tom Henwood woke to find himself in a hospital bed with no memory of how he had got there. Heā€™d actually woken up from an induced coma heā€™s been put in to help his brain recover from a sudden onset of encephalitis. This left him with uncontrollable epilepsy and spelt the end of his apprenticeship before it had even started followed by a so far unsuccessful bids to find meaningful work.

In this episode Tom shares his story of how heā€™s now on a mission to educate employers about epilepsy using his unique brand of humour and speaking.
