Helen

This client prefers to remain anonymous. I’m referring to her as Helen, not her real name

Having heard me speak at an event for mentors with The Girls’ Network, Helen approached me for help with building her confidence in public speaking and spoken business communication in general. She felt ready to start looking for her next promotion and recognised the value of these skills, not only to help her secure that next position but within that position itself too.

With a successful career to date and the drive to keep improving, she had started to volunteer for responsibilities beyond her then position and these included presenting a book idea to the publishing team, in person networking (which terrified her) as well as managing conflict, etc.

We addressed a different topic of Helen’s choice in each of her sessions, starting with developing a routine to increase energy and confidence ahead of a challenging meeting or event which involved her speaking out.

Ahead of attending an in-person networking event on behalf of her line manager where she expected most of the attendees to be in roles more senior to hers, we worked on strategies for feeling and appearing confident as well as a few networking do’s and don’ts which Helen found particularly valuable.

We looked at handling objections or criticisms within a business meeting to preserve her credibility, etc.

There was also at least 1 session spent on identifying the relevant part of her education and career history to include in her CV to make it stand out more, as well as some interview practise.

Helen recognised her own growth in confidence and even before the end of her programme had been offered her next job within her chosen aspect of publishing.

Programme followed: Helen took the 18 hour On Tap Coaching programme.
